A typical DLSR camera usually comes with 18-55mm focal length lens. However, there are many different camera lens types available. Some of them are telephoto, some are the wide-angle and some are the macro lens and are being used in all types of cameras.
Camera lens types and what they do
A typical telephoto lens is used to capture distant objects like capturing birds, planes etc. A telephoto lens may have the focal length up to 300mm and can capture very distance photos. Telephoto lens decreases the depth in field enabling you to olate your subjects from the background with shallow focus.
On the other hand, a macro lens is used to capture very close objects like eye retina, etc. they have a high amount of magnification which gives you the very detail of the object.
Other types of camera lens are called a wide-angle lens and this lens is good for taking wide-angle photos up to 180 degrees. there is three type of wide lenses: Wide, ultra-wide, and fish-eye. a fish-eye lens has front element bows outwards like fish, allowing it to see as wide as 180 degrees. These lenses are good for certain purposes, but are often overused without real purpose – use them with caution. An ultra-wide angle lens has a focal length shorter than 20mm, but are meant to correct the fish-eye distortion; these are sometimes referred to as “aspherical”.
Another type of camera lens is called a prime lens. It has a fixed focal length and has no zoom. Because of the relative simplicity of their build they have typically large aperture and are useful for indoor and low light photography.
Some people prefer the lens which can be used for multitasking and zoom lens are a good option here. They provide very much zoom up to 200mm and can also be used for macro shots. These lenses are good for people who want to travel and don’t want to carry heavy camera bags and a large telephoto lens.
